POSITION ID: Research Technician 1

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working under close supervision, the technician will assist a postdoctoral researcher performing tissue engineering research. This is a part-time position.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.      Prepare solutions (33%)

2.      Maintain records (33%)

3.      May perform inventory control, ordering, and recording of experiments (34%)

 

 

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform other lab maintenance duties as assigned.

 

CONTACTS

Department: Weekly contact with supervisor to update progress/status/experimental issues/plan.

University: Limited or no contact with other departments.

External: Limited or no contact with vendors to exchange information.

Students: Little or no contact

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct supervision of staff employees.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 0 to 1 year of related experience required.

Education/Licensing: High school education required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

1.      Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

2.      Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

3.      Basic knowledge of using 3D printer to assist with recording experiments

4.      Ability to keep a lab notebook.

5.      Ability to write progress reports.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

General laboratory environment. May have exposure to chemical or biologic hazards
